Millrise Medical Practice teaches medical students from Keele University School of Medicine and we help them to develop a variety of skills including how to consult with patients. We would be most grateful if you would agree to see a medical student where available.
The student will ask the questions usually asked by the GP and may also examine you if it is required. This will be very similar to a ‘normal’ GP consultation except that the GP may not be present when you talk to the student but will see you straight after. The GP will be supervising the student, have overall responsibility for your consultation and will be responsible for all decisions about your care as usual.
Please also note that:
- You can refuse to see the student.
- You can ask the student to stop at any time during the consultation.
- You can leave the consultation at any time.
- You can ask for the GP to take over at any time.
Please be reassured that the care you receive from the practice will not be affected in any way by you choosing any of these options.
Thank you for helping us. If you have any further questions, please ask the receptionist or your doctor at the start of any consultation.
